Surgical ServicesWe provide many surgical services at our clinic including routine spay and neuters, soft-tissue surgeries and orthopedic surgeries. Occasionally, we refer our patients to specialists (board certified veterinary surgeons) to perform complex operations.
Spaying & Neutering
Benefits to spaying and neutering include:
• Prevention of the dog and cat overpopulation.
• Spaying can control the sometimes ‘messy’ heat cycles of
female pets. While neutering eliminates the undesirable and,
at times, embarrassing behavior in your male companion.
• Spaying helps prevent diseases such as pyometra (infection in
the uterus) and mammary cancer. While neutering can help
prevent prostate disease and testicular cancer.
Soft-tissue surgery
Soft-tissue surgery includes surgeries not associated with bone. Probably the most common soft-tissue surgery performed at our clinic is the removal of masses or “lumps” on animals. Most of these masses or lumps, once removed and tested, are benign (nonharmful); however, occasionally they are more serious.
Early removal and accurate diagnosis of a lump is necessary to improve the outcome if the mass is cancerous. We also preform a number of general eye and ear surgeries as required.
Orthopedic surgery
Orthopedic surgery refers to bone surgery. There are many different situations where bone surgery may be necessary, including leg fractures, hip dysplasia, disc disease, etc. Many orthopedic surgeries can be performed at our clinic. Occasionally we refer our patients to a board-certified surgeon to perform back surgery and other very complex surgeries.
In the unfortunate event that you require our orthopedic services, you can be assured that we are able to proceed with a treatment that will enhance your pet’s healing time and reduce the long term potential problems associated with a fracture or other orthopedic surgery.
