I go by Kiran (pronounced like Keyran) instead of my legal name Jaskiran since college. I graduated from the AHT program in 2009 from Douglas College and at that time that was the first ever graduating class of the new accredited AHT program in the lower mainland. I always had a love for animals as young as when I was a few years old, running the fields of a small village in India to help my grandmother grab some milk from our cows. In Grade 10 I knew I wanted to be a nurse but not sure what kind until I stumbled across all the different nurses including a Veterinary Technician during my research for a project for a Personal Planning class. From that day I knew I wanted to follow that dream and achieved it.
My keen interest in the Veterinary field is to learn and continue to learn more about emergency medicine, orthopedics and exotics. Exotics have recently been a big interest of mine ever since I adopted 2 crested geckos from Douglas College last year and my reptile and amphibian family has been growing since then. I also have 3 rescue cats and have a keen interest in rescuing and adopting out senior cats.
Outside of Veterinary medicine, I needed a creative hobby so I started a lifestyle/beauty YouTube channel back in September 2019. I also recently started a new Instagram account for my plants and animals which is my little jungle (@kirans.little.jungle) and will be making a second YouTube channel for just them. This will be educational for people to know more about indoor plants and pets. I hope to be famous some day! Just kidding, I just want to make a difference in the welfare of animals.
